Cheng Yu’s Polycarbonate (PC) engineering plastic compounds have been developed to provide the suitable materials applicable to electrical, electronic (E&E), appliances and lighting industries. PC has a good combination of electrical, mechanical, physical and thermal properties, which makes it a popular choice of material for different industries in injection and extrusion molding processes.

(ML3000)This is general purpose PC with UL94 V2 (1.5mm) rating and is widely used in the appliances and E&E industries for housing and covers requiring good impact resistance and surface appearance. The glossy surface and good color-ability has made it a popular choice for products wishing to be presented in various color media. Pre-colored resin is also a key strength for this grade where the materials can go straight into production without further prior mixing of pigments.

These grades have proved to provide outstanding FR ability while maintaining an excellent balanced of thermal, mechanical and physical properties.

(ML8000V / ML8100V / ML8200V)These are non-brominated FR PC with UL94 V0 (1.5mm – 3.0mm) rating and their properties are very similar to the traditional FR PC materials. One key advantage of this product line is that it could offer better price / performance ratio for non-transparent applications compare to ML849 series. It is suitable for products demanding the use of a more eco-friendly material.

(ML3410 / ML3420 / ML3430)The glass fiber (GF) reinforced PC have improved tensile / flexural properties as well as thermal resistance. The FR rating improves with increase in thickness and without addition of any FR additives the material can acquire a UL94 V0 rating at 3 mm.

(Injection - Flame Retardant - LDF3010 / LDF 3020 / LDF3030)These are specially formulated light diffusive PC developed for use in the LED lighting industries. Their applications are for injection or extrusion molded housing and covers to allow the LED light source to be evenly dispersed and passes through without significant lose in the light transmissions. The introduction of this product line is because traditional transparent materials are incapable of evenly dispersing the LED light and causing loses of energy / efficiency and resulting glaze that could not be directly viewed with our eyes.
Light dispersive PC now is being widely utilized for LED products, which are becoming an important part of future lighting developments.

PC/ABS Alloys
Cheng Yu’s PC/ABS Alloys have been developed to provide the suitable materials applicable to electrical, electronic (E&E), OA machines and appliances industries. We have introduced a wide product selection range to support and to fulfill different demanding applications, safety and environmental regulations.
PC/ABS alloys can offer better flow-ability for large dimensional housings and frames while maintaining the good color-ability when compare to PC. It also has the advantage of reducing the internal stress problems that PC itself may have when come across certain demanding product designs and processing conditions.

Polypropylene (PP)
Polypropylene (PP) is a very versatile plastic that can be found in many applications ranging from everyday items like chair, clothing and packaging, to automotive interior and bumpers. PP has relatively low density, good mechanical properties, chemical and fatigue resistance.
Cheng Yu’s development team has developed a broad range of PP compounds over the years suitable for different demanding applications and also to meet the different safety and environmental regulations.

(PP228H / PP229H / PP230H)These are mineral modified (MD) filled type PP design to be use for injection moldings as well as extrusion sheets. Compare to unmodified PP, heat resistant PP have high heat deflection temperature (110 to 140oC) thus improve thermal resistance, rigidity and reduce in mold shrinkages with better dimension stability.

(PP236G1 / PP237G2 / PP238G3 / PP237G2CC)Glass Fiber (GF) reinforced PP have improve physical properties with even higher thermal resistance. In many cases if continual usage temperature is not over 120℃, PP with GF could replace PA and PBT GF material at almost no sacrifice in physical properties and chemical properties. Chemically coupled grade are also available for applications requiring greater impact and temperature resistance compare to traditional GF grades.

Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS)
Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) is a crystalline thermoplastic resin with exceptional thermal, chemical, electrical and flame retardant properties. The unique properties of PPS is given by its highly stable chemical bonds in its molecular structure, moreover PPS has very thermally stable crystalline lattice imparts it to have a high melting point of about 285°C.

Polyamide6 (PA6)
Polyamide are also commonly known as Nylon, the most common types of polyamides are PA6 and PA66, which are characterized by balanced mechanical, electrical and tribological properties; they are often material of choice when it comes to applications that require high strength, rigidity and flame retardant ability.

In many applications, both PA6 and PA66 are suitable materials of consideration. However, there are certain situations where one is better than the other. In choosing the right nylon, the following often need to take into considerations:
Continuous high temperatures, up to 185℃
PA6 have better long term heat ageing performance than PA66 and should be material of choice for application require running for extended period of time;Very low temperatures
Generic PA6 is more ductile than PA66 at low temperature, but both types of polyamide could be modified through other means for low temperature applications.

Polyamide66 (PA66)

Very short-term temperature spikes close to HDT or melting temperature
The heat deflection temperature of PA66 is higher than that of PA6. PA66 should be preferred when temperature is above 215℃ but below 250℃. But note this only holds for short period of heat shock or spikes application, any extended application 250℃ or above other nylons such as HTN, PA6T or PA46 should be considered;
Hydrolysis critical environments
Moisture absorption of PA66 is lower than that of PA6, and thus PA66 would be preferred for applications in hot water environment;

Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT)
Cheng Yu Plastic has developed a wide range of general purposes and specialty grades PBT compounds applicable to electrical, electronic (E&E), automotive, hair beauty and appliances industries.
The PBT compounds in general have excellent mechanical, physical properties as well as thermal resistance. Furthermore, they exhibit good chemical resistance; dimensional stability, color-ability and better hydro-stability compare to Nylon compounds, which make it a popular selection for E&E components and parts where heat and humidity are always a challenge.

Polyoxymethylene (POM)
Polyoxymethylene (POM), also known as polyacetals or polyformaldehyde, is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic resin characterized by high strength, hardness, rigidity and lubricate properties. POM is commonly used in gears, buckles and fittings.
Commercially, there are two types of POM available: POM homopolymer, that are mainly polyoxymethylene molecular chain made from formaldehyde bonds. POM copolymer, where trioxane and dioxolane are copolymerize. Homopolymer of POM are general characterize by high heat, strength and stiffness while copolymer of POM are more thermally stable due to presence of carbon-carbon chain and resistance to hot water and weak alkalis.

- POM exhibits very well balanced properties over repetitive use and wide temperature range;- Excellent creep and fatigue resistance over a wide temperature range for extended periods and repetitive use;
- POM has superior tribological properties, and therefore excellent friction and wear properties. In addition, it is self-lubricating, makes it a good choice for parts that requires continual and repetitive movements;
- Other than acids and oxidizing agents / chemicals, POM exhibits excellent resistance and durability to most organic chemical such as anti-freeze, gasoline fuels and engine oil that makes it ideal for automotive and transmission parts;

Elast-E is thermoplastic ester elastomer (TPEE) characterized by high mechanical strength and modulus.Features

Elast-O is olefinic based non vulcanized thermoplastic elastomer, more commonly known as TPO.Features
Compare to tradition vulcanized TPV and rubber, Elast-O have the following features:- Can be formulated to very broad hardness range, 55A-65D;
- Low temperature performance similar to traditional elastomers;
- Well balanced chemical properties, good oil resistance and hydrolytic resistance to engineering plastics;
- Elast-O modified with mineral fillers can greatly decrease its CLTE without negative effect on impact.Applications

4. Elast-S
Elast-S is styrenic butadiene based thermoplastic elastomer commonly known as TPE-S. Elast-S is one of the most common and versatile thermoplastic elastomer with the widest range of hardness and applications.Features

- High flow, bendability and impact resistance;
- Elast-S can be formulated to meet UL94 V2 or V0 without much deterioration in overall physical properties.Applications

Static dissipative and conductive plastics
Plastics are in general light weight, flexible in design and easy to process, however, majority of them are insulate materials and they are prone to static electricity built up during use causing undesired effect on electronics equipments and parts, therefore limited their use in certain applications. Cheng Yu has formulated a complete line of antistatic and conductive composite with spanning surface resistivity range from 1012 to 105 ohm. Modification of surface resistivity is done by adding antistatic additives, carbon powder, carbon fiber or stainless steel fiber.
Antistatic or conductive requirements could also be tailored according to applications, which could include modification with combinations of mechanical, thermal properties and flammability.

Our modified Polyphenylene ether (PPE) resins are extremely versatile amorphous engineering thermoplastics, which together with Polystyrene (PS) can form various miscible blends with variety of characteristics. The modified PPE can be utilized in many industries whose requirement could be ranging from basic properties to specialized applications.

The modified PPE resins have outstanding hydrolytic stability at both room and elevated temperatures. The low water absorption characteristic (which is amongst the lowest of any engineering thermoplastics) contributes to the retention of properties and dimensions, which is very suitable for high humidity and even steam environments. This feature allows product to meet tight injection molding tolerances and deliver molded part with high reproducibility;Low creep and outstanding retention of mechanical strength at elevated temperature
Modified PPE has outstanding retention of flexural and tensile strength at elevated temperatures. The gradual reduction in modulus allows molded parts to be used with predictable performance over a wide temperature range. PPE can be modified into having flame retardant properties that conform to UL94 standard offering the V0 rating. The non-brominated and non-chlorinated flame retardant system used makes it an excellent option for environmental friendly products;Outstanding electrical properties
The values for the dielectric strength, relative permittivity and the dissipation factor are also amongst the lowest compare to other commonly used polymers. This advantage that modified PPE exhibits makes it potentially excellent candidates for demanding electrical and electronic applications, especially under wide temperature range, high humidity and frequency variation environments.
